Namibia business confidence down in May
The Business Climate Index (BCI), based on 13 broad economic indicators likely to impact on the business environment, ticked 0.2 points lower to 110.9 in May from 111.1 in April.
"The index moved sideways in May as international fuel prices moderated and inflation increased for the third consecutive month," the IPPR said in a statement.
Latest official data shows consumer price inflation in the southern Africa country quickened to 5.2 percent year-on-year in May from 4.8 percent in April, the highest reading since March 2010.
Lower metal prices and weak commercial vehicle sales helped to pull the leading indicator of the BCI 2.1 basis points lower, pointing to a less-than-favourable business climate in the fourth quarter.
