Pasadena Kia dealership accused of fraud
A Pasadena Kia dealership is being sued over claims it lied about the work it performed on a customer’s car during a scheduled maintenance check.
Mary Hunter filed a lawsuit on June 6 in Harris County District Court against Fredy Kia, of Pasadena, citing breach of contract, breach of fiduciary duty and constructive fraud.
Hunter says she took her car to Fredy Kia for a 60,000-mile maintenance check, which required the engine’s timing belt to be replaced. According to the brief, Fredy Kia engaged in fraud when it told Hunter that the engine belt had been replaced when in fact, it had not.
Hunter alleges that shortly after the maintenance check, the timing belt malfunctioned, causing extensive damage to her car’s engine.
Hunter is seeking $4,000 in actual damages, exemplary damages, attorney’s fees and court costs. She is being represented in the case by Houston attorney Hugh Plummer.
