Rep. Bachmann's conservative comrades have reliably come rushing to her defense against the mean, old mainstream media, but the National Organization for Women, usually considered — at the very least — socialist agitators and witches by the right, has also joined the “sexist” chorus about the photographic depiction of someone whose politics are generally anathema to most of their goals. These days, fashion folks go bonkers when time zones catch up with the globetrotting secretary of state and she improvises on the style front, showing up in public with her hair fastened with a butterfly clip (the horror … the horror). But back in the day — and by that I mean back in her first lady days when all manner of libel was cast her way and she was simultaneously a suspected murderess by some and the most admired woman in the country by others, including me — she was the subject of a number of magazine covers that make “Crazy Eyes” look like Patrick Demarchelier Vogue material. The online archives of the defunct (and oftentimes great) satirical magazine, Spy , yield several Hillary covers that would send today's tender souls into terminal tizzies. In the 1990s, I subscribed to the journal — which took no prisoners, respected no titles or party affiliations, allowed no hiding places behind money or position; take that, Donald Trump, you “short-fingered vulgarian,” you — and so I happened to remember how my favorite first lady was treated in picture and word. (In many ways, Spy was the print forerunner of both “The Daily Show” and “The Colbert Report.” There was a lot of news to be mined from its humor and its attitude.)

And inside the ‘zine: Posing as correspondents for a fictional teen Republican publication, Spy writers even got the members of the 1994 “angry white man” freshman class of Congress to comment on whether they thought Hillary was pretty. (By the way, this year's freshman crop of tea partiers makes the ones that impeached Bill Clinton look like a bunch of slacker commie-symps.

Luisa walks into the hospital room and sees “That Look” pass between Tere and Nando.  Tere breaks the mood and smiles at Lu as if nothing’s happened.  She’s excited that she has started to sense touch again.  Lu comes over but (unlike hot blooded Fernando) her hands are icy cold.  Lu laughs that she needs to have to have a (warm) hug from Fernando.  Again Nando and Tere share a meaningful stare and cautious smiles.  (Strains of Foreigner’s “Hot Blooded” are blasting loud throughout Viewerville, however.  Around Teresa he’s definitely got a temp of 103 and we don’t have to read his mind to know what he’s got in mind for this hot mama!  Does she do more than tease?)    Back at Casa de los Caceras: Aida and the even more odious Oriana are having another female doggies’ gripe session about Teresa and the magic spell she seems to cast on every man she meets--even decent guys like Mariano and Arturo can’t see through her!  Yes, says Orca-iana.  “--She’s been lucky up till now.  What makes her dangerous though is that she’s extremely intelligent and very shrewd.”  Now that Art is penniless it will be interesting to see if she’ll bounce from him to somebody else.  It’ll be her trial by fire.  Not to worry, tho’.  She’s making it her job to expose her for who she really is to everyone.  At the hospital, Esperanza and Mariano discuss her and Hernan the Galan’s marrying there at the hospital and Rodrigo’s being baptized immediately after.  Too bad he can’t be the little guy’s godfather now since Esp thought he should be; but since Tere’s the godmother we all know that Art will have to be the godfather.  That’s the breaks, says Mar.  He mentions that Hector the Director has forbidden him to even enter her hospital room so he hopes that Esp will keep him up to date with Teresa’s progress.  Of course she will.
