Hats off to the Gamecock baseball team

— and two-time champs at that.

By claiming its second consecutive College Worlds Series title on Tuesday night, USC cemented its position as today’s premier NCAA baseball program. With a 5-2 victory over Florida, the Gamecocks became only the sixth team to win consecutive NCAA baseball championships. Coach Ray Tanner, his staff and his players did it in record-setting style: The Gamecocks won their 16th consecutive tournament game, breaking the record set by Texas in 1983-84. They also set a record by winning their 11th consecutive College World Series game — the final six last season and all five this season.

While last year’s victory in Omaha, Neb., was exciting and sweet, this year’s is special because of the Gamecocks’ display of mental toughness, extra-inning effort and flat determination. Despite being defending champs, South Carolina didn’t go to Omaha as the No. 1 national seed; but it went in with the heart of a champion. This team outworked, outlasted and out-willed opponents to claim victory after victory.

The Gamecocks showed true grit in pulling out heart-stoppers in extra innings to prove that they simply wanted it more than any of the others. And, once again, they proved to be the nation’s best.

Regardless the sport — or even the level, for that matter — it’s difficult to repeat as champions. From the first day of regular season and throughout the post season, everyone tends to get up for and play harder against the reigning champs. But USC, which posted a 55-14 record, withstood those challenges as well as adversity brought on by injuries.

The Gamecocks have made it to the title game five times — three under Mr. Tanner. The baseball team has ascended to the level at which it is expected to compete for the title every year. No other USC sports program has reached that lofty — and to some degree, burdensome — plateau. Many casual sports fans and even a number of those narrowly focused on Gamecock football have been captivated by the baseball team’s can-do attitude.

It’s an attitude that coach Tanner has managed to engrain into his team’s DNA and one that other teams at the university are working hard to reproduce, as they ask the question, “Why not us?” Coach Steve Spurrier’s football team took a solid step toward answering that question by capturing the SEC East crown last season. What will this upcoming season bring?

Dwayne Johnson (Joe Kingman), Madison Pettis (Peyton Kelly), Kyra Sedgwick (Stella Peck), Roselyn Sanchez (Monique Vasquez), Morris Chestnut (Travis Sanders), Hayes MacArthur (Kyle Cooper), Brian J. White (Jamal Webber) . Sylvester Stallone had shown us in 1987 "Over the Top": As a father, who unexpectedly meets with his child, he managed to free itself from its image as a brutal action hero. Likewise, it makes wrestling star "The Rock" Dwayne Johnson, who meets in "The Game Plan" as a south carolina football helmet star at his daughter, which he previously had no idea. At a New Year's morning, the course follows a glittering New Year's Eve, but it is the light-heartedness by: An eight-year-old girl (Madison Pettis) knocks on the door and tells the bewildered Joe that he was his father. First, he considers himself as the victim of a bad joke and tries to get rid of a hundred dollars and an autograph. But then presents Peyton him the proof: A letter from King's ex-wife and her daughter's birth certificate with his name on it is a fait accompli. And because this is prevented for the next four weeks due to a trip to Sudan, will now take on the physical, but until now totally unsuspecting father's supervision. Extremely reluctant to take Joe to task, even if it seems to him to hand over his head. But the fresh father-daughter relationship is strained by the willful child badly. Such as Peyton refuses at first to get into Joe's Mercedes SLR, because the two-seater does not have a car seat. Ado, he acknowledges their security concerns with a football helmet aside. The fact that stock in Joe's budget no sugar, and consequently no chocolate promotes not just Peyton's satisfaction. But Joe's nerves are constantly put to the test. Such as his ballet enthusiasts daughter in a pink tutu defenseless Spike infected. Then she drags him even with the ballet lessons with dance instructor Monique (Roselyn Sanchez). She shoots the bird, however, when they in the presence of Joe's friends in a crucial scene of a basketball game changes the TV channel. Kingman is convinced that it can only help a pro: He gives his manager Stella Peck (Kyra Sedgwick) instruction to look for a suitable nanny. In the selection of candidates, presenting them to him, Joe selects a candidate that appeal to him particularly the external criteria. But Peyton is Nanny Cindy (Lauren Storm) stand not go away . . Born in 1972 in California, Dwayne Johnson has earned his merits as a wrestler, the locals as "The Rock" numerous WWF title. As the "Scorpion King" in 2002, he made a name as an actor and then had a few film appearances as an action actor. Following a similar pattern to knit Sylvester Stallone in 1987 in "Over the Top" Johnson was chosen by the producers Mark Ciardi and Gordon Gray to play a tough guy who lures his child out the soft core of the hard shell. For writing the script gave Walt Disney Studios the debutante Nichole Millard and Kathryn Price a chance. Millard is project director of the participating Sudios Mayhem, and Price, previously worked for TV productions, is her friend since college. They were supported both by Audrey Wells, who brought some experience as a screenwriter. She is said about the screenplay for thematically related comedy "The Kid" (2000) with Bruce Willis as surprised by his own child who is actually his old ego. For the selection of sporting colleagues Joe Kingman had Andy Fickman support from the south carolina football helmet coordinator Mark Ellis. He was himself a successful football player at Appalachian State University and later studied at the University of South Carolina, where he worked as an assistant coach. There he was hired in 1993 as Coah for Omar Epps, who in the sports drama "The challenge constituted" ("The Program") is a south carolina football helmet player. This was the first in a large number of films in which Mark Ellis put his teaching skills in the sport for film art. Among these works is something like "Any Given Sunday" ("Any Given Sunday", 1999) by Oliver Stone. But in other sports Ellis is adept: he helped in 2005 in "Coach Carter" Samuel L. Jackson as a basketball coach and his team a boost, and in "Superman Returns" it was created in 2006 to baseball. For the Boston Rebels "in" Game Plan "is a team of former professionals and actors were prepared, which already had experience in football. Sun Morris Chestnut was in "Boyz n the Hood" is already embodies a south carolina football helmet player, and Brian J. White was a professional with the New England Patriots. From page one on, I was sort of addicted to the idea of ??who this guy was. And the whole relationship with his daughter. I have a 9-year-old son, and the dynamics of being a director, see with my focus on the work, and then the time when you are together with his son, all that spoke to me in a profound way. When I am with Mark and Gordon, the producer met, and particularly after the Meetin with Dwayne, I was there. From the first meeting with Dwayne Johnson at we had this kind of kinship, you know: Do you love Elvis? I love Elvis. I love Elvis too! All of a sudden we had the same language. It is hard for a director and an actor to find their own common language. He and I truly share the same things that are important for the work. We can make each other laugh and we understand what we expect just at the moment. I thought of a kind daily thoughts of love and change. And heal the people a certain way, other people. Joe is a guy who is disconnected from the world and certainly not ready to embrace a child. And we see them in their attempt to influence the other. And the message with which I wanted to dismiss the audience, was that each other can heal anyone, big or small.
