Boys and Girls Club golf event scheduled

DARTMOUTH —The 28th Annual Boys & Girls Club Merle Ames/Joe Dias Charity Golf Classic will take place on Sunday, July 17, 2011 at Allendale Country Club in Dartmouth.

Registration begins at 11:00 a.m. with a shotgun start at 1 p.m. Sponsor for the tournament is the Law Office of Partridge Snow and Hahn and a Hole in One prize to win a car is sponsored by Fall River Ford and another hole in one prize of $5,000 is sponsored by Tomlinson & O'Neil Insurance.

All proceeds from this event help to ensure that the Boys & Girls Club of Greater New Bedford/Wareham continues to provide a curriculum in career development, academic enrichment, prevention alternatives to drug, alcohol and violence, as well as social, fitness and recreational activities.

The entry fee is $150 for individual golfers. This includes greens fee, cart rental, a fantastic golfer registration bag which includes an Ahead shirt and hat, golf balls and other items. Golfers will also enjoy a delicious surf & turf dinner at Allendale Country Club. Team prizes will be awarded for first, second and third place teams along with individual prizes awarded for longest drive and closest pin on par holes. The tournament also offers a raffle with a great assortment of prizes, and a putting contest.

Club Sponsorship levels of $1,000 include foursome, premium tee sign and program listing. Tee sponsorships are $100. " It's a win-win Sunday afternoon of golf for those participating in the relaxed scramble format while the youth of our community benefit from the programs supported by the proceeds," comments Attorney Mike Kehoe, golf committee chairman. Last year's tournament was a sell out so register early.
